Many of the team at Coquet Vets share their lives with four-legged companions who bring plenty of fun, mischief, and adventure to everyday life – including the vet practice! From food thieves and toy hoarders to mountain climbers and expert cuddlers, meet our much-loved staff dogs!
Bond the Labrador
Our clinical director, Emily has a goofy labrador named Bond, who is five years old. Emily would describe bond as a bit of a doofus, but a loveable one at that.
Bond's favourite thing in the world is eating. Emily’s favourite thing about Bond is his individuality. We once conducted a very scientific experiment on Bond to test his intelligence... We put a blanket over his head to see how long it would take for him to remove it. Let’s just say, he would still be there now if we hadn't removed it ourselves.
Wolf the Golden Retriever
Our nurse Emma has a very cheeky golden retriever called Wolf, who is four years old. Wolf’s worst habit is stealing tea towels and wanting to be chased with them! Their favourite thing to do together is walk along the quayside and visit dog-friendly shops and restaurants.
Wolf once stole and ate 36 Jaffa Cakes from our staff room! He made a full recovery and still dreams about that day. Wolf and Bond have a very special friendship and often help each other out in times of need. Bond was once very desperate for the toilet and unfortunately couldn't hold it any longer. He did a very large poo in the staff room and was quite embarrassed. Luckily, Wolf was there to gobble it all up and hide the evidence. Wolf then proceeded to vomit this back up a few hours later onto Emma’s new cream carpet.
Walter the Vizsla
Our receptionist Sarah has a five-year-old Vizsla called Walter. Sarah would describe him as an awkward weirdo who loves snoozing in the sun and eating carrots.
In Sarah’s eyes, Walter can do no wrong, but he does get very travel sick, meaning her car often resembles a sick bucket on wheels. Sarah’s favourite thing about Walter is his bond with his human sister, Isabella, and how much he adores her. Walter’s strangest habit is that he often walks backwards when coming out of a room or reversing back through a corridor. He is yet to master turning around.
Rhum the Hungarian Visla & Iona the Jack Russell Terrier
Our vet, Becca has a five-year-old softie called Rhum and an 11-year-old called Iona, who is the boss. Rhum’s favourite thing to do is go for a run, and Iona loves to sunbathe. Rhum’s worst habit is eating face masks whilst Iona tends to steal food from Becca’s toddler!
Becca’s favourite thing about Rhum is the cuddles he gives, and her most loved quality about Iona is that she is a great emotional support dog. Iona once popped balloons at a practice open day, ate them and proceeded to pass green-and-white-striped poos for the next 24 hours! Rhum once got so terrified of himself passing wind that he shot into the air and ran as fast as he could to get away.
Winston the Cocker Spaniel
Our Head Nurse, Rosie has a seven-year-old cocker spaniel named Winston. She would describe him as extremely loyal. Winston’s favourite thing to do is to go running in the hills. Winston's worst habit is being extremely needy and playing with rocks. Despite this, Rosie’s favourite thing about Winston is how cuddly and loving he is. Winston has helped Rosie raise many foster kittens over the years and is now a permanent dad to her adopted cat, Major. They share food, despite Rosie's best efforts to prevent this, and they even sleep in the same bed.
Lenny the Norfolk Terrier
Lenny is a very energetic six-month-old Norfolk terrier who is owned by one of our student nurses, Melissa. His favourite thing to do is dig in the flower beds. Lenny’s worst habit is chasing bumble bees! Melissa’s favourite thing about Lenny is that he likes to lie in on the weekends.
Stanley the Dachshund
Stanley is a one-year-old dachshund, owned by one of our vets, Sarah. Stanley is very energetic and his favourite walk is along the beach. Stanley’s favourite adventure was climbing Munros in Glencoe last summer. Stanley’s favourite activity is dragging his bed around the house or stealing toys from other dogs and hiding them in his bed! His bad habit is sleeping in Sarah’s bed instead of his own from time-to-time.
Whether they're stealing snacks, climbing mountains, helping to raise kittens or providing emotional support, our team's dogs play a huge part in our lives.
