Dogs love to explore, and whilst they enjoy going on their regular walking routes and to their favourite parks, it is always nice to take them somewhere new. There are so many wonderful places for dog walks in the local area of Amble, and there are also many places to explore just a short drive away. Here are some of the best places for dog walks in the Newcastle upon Tyne area.

Rising Sun Country Park

This huge park includes nature reserves, ponds, woodlands, a farm, and a café. It is a great place to observe wildlife and to relax and enjoy the scenic surroundings.

The park features a farm with donkeys, horses, and birds. There is free parking on site and extensive footpaths, bridleways, and cycle ways to explore. There is also a children’s play area.

Tynemouth Beach

A trip to Tynemouth may include visiting the markets, going to a local pub or restaurant (most are dog friendly), or walking along the coast to Whitley Bay, which is roughly 2 miles.

Tynemouth beaches are dog friendly from October to April. In the summer months, a relaxing walk along the path following the coast is a great option. You can also visit Tynemouth priory and castle, which is from the 11th century.

Jesmond Dene

This 5.6km trail takes around 1 hour and 20 minutes to complete. The trail is open all year round and is beautiful to visit at any time of the year. Dogs are welcome and may be off lead in some areas.

There are two cafes and even a petting zoo to explore! It is a relatively flat route and there are many options to lengthen or shorten your walk to best suit you.
