Our Current Policy for COVID-19

Update 12 - Thursday 9th February 2023

Although COVID is still fresh in our minds, we have made a few amendments to our COVID-19 protocols to align with the current COVID-19 requirements. Clients are no longer required to wear masks in our clinic. We are happy to wear a mask if a client is vulnerable and requests us to do so.

We ask that you do not visit our practice if you have recently tested positive for COVID-19 or have any suspected symptoms of COVID-19. If you need any advice or need your pet to be seen, please give us a call.

Please do not hesitate to give us a call on 01665 252 250 if you require any further information.

Past Policy Updates for COVID-19

Update 11 - Friday 18th March 2022

For the continued safety of our staff and clients, our staff will continue to wear face coverings / masks and adhere to social distancing when clients are visiting the practice. While it is no longer mandatory to wear a mask, we encourage all clients and visitors to our practice to bring and wear their own face covering / mask.

We also ask that you not visit our practice if you have recently tested positive for COVID-19 or have any suspected symptoms of COVID-19.

Please do not hesitate to give us a call on 01665 252 250 if you require any further information.

Update 10 - Monday 29th November 2021

In response to recent developments with the Omicron variant in the UK and globally, we would like to update and remind all our clients about our COVID protocols.

For the continued safety of our staff and clients, we are retaining our existing policy of always wearing face coverings / masks and adhering to social distancing. We ask that all clients and visitors to our practice remember to bring their own face covering / mask.

We have a large and spacious reception area, so social distancing can be easily adhered to, and for those of you that wish to be with your pet during your visit, we will continue to welcome you into the consult rooms, as long as face coverings / masks are worn.

For those of you that are exempt from wearing a face covering / mask, or those that wish not to come in, we are happy to consult and see you outside.

We understand that this may differ from other establishments, but we ask that you respect our policies. Our aim is to minimise any disruption from normal working, and keeping everyone safe is our priority.

Please do not hesitate to give us a call on 01665 252 250 if you require any further information.

Update 9 - Thursday, 8th July 2021

Our COVID-19 Policies after 19th July 2021

We wanted to update you all on our COVID protocols ahead of the UK Government review on 12th July 2021 and the anticipated changes to COVID-19 restrictions and guidance from the 19th July.

While there is anticipation that the UK Government will lift all restrictions on the 19th July, for the continued safety of our staff and clients, we have decided to retain our policy on wearing face coverings / masks and adhere to social distancing.

Our reception area is lovely and big, so social distancing can be easily adhered to, and for those of you who wish to be with your pet during your visit, we will continue to welcome you into the consult rooms. However, face coverings / masks must continue to be worn at all times in our reception area and in our consult rooms.

Two weeks in .....We hope everyone is keeping safe?

Just to let everyone know that we are still open between 9.00am - 5.00pm, Monday to Friday. Should anyone have any concerns about their pet, then please call us on 01665 252 250, where you can speak to a vet for advice.

We have an online video system set up where the vet can perform an 'online consult', which is free of charge if they deem this necessary. The vet can talk you through how to get set up if they decide a video consult is needed. In some cases, the vet may wish to examine your pet, this can be discussed and arranged following social distancing guidelines.

Our out-of-hours provider is Moorview Referrals, and they too are available to triage phone calls and see emergencies if this is deemed necessary when we are closed or if critical care/hospitalisation is required.

Update 1 - Monday, 23 March 2020

Following the latest government update and advice on COVID-19, from Monday, 23rd March 2020, we'll be changing the way that we work. Coquet Vets is still open, but in the interest of public safety and the safety of our veterinary staff, we have made the decision to temporarily close our reception.

If you require our services during this time, please call 01665 252250.

Between the hours of Monday to Friday, 9.00am - 5.00pm, you will be put through to one of our Vets. Advice and triage will be available via FREE phone/video links.

If we deem it necessary to physically examine your pet, we politely request that only one person attend with the animal. In line with current government advice, you will be asked to maintain a safe distance during the exam and use our handwashing facilities. There will be no cross-over of clients, and consult rooms will be cleaned between clients.

These services (to physically examine your pet) will carry a charge.

You may, however, need to use our out-of-hours provider, Moorview Referrals, in Cramlington. This will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.

We will endeavour to continue providing a service for our existing clients during this temporary period and also welcome anyone new who would like to register with us at Coquet Vets. In the interest of safety for all, we will, however, only be providing services that are emergency or non-routine.

For those needing on-going medication, we can take payment over the phone and arrange to post or deliver medication directly to your door.

We hope to be back to normal services soon, but we will continue to monitor the situation in line with the UK government’s advice on coronavirus (COVID-19) and advise of any further changes at our veterinary practice.

Please keep safe, and please abide by government advice during this difficult time.

Yours sincerely,

Coquet Vets
